Lithops Scrapbook V preamble
Maintaining Cole principles, the following are Lithops that were validly published in accordance with the I.C.N. (formerly the I.C.B.N.) or established in accordance with the I.C.N.C.P. subsequent to Lithops Scrapbook IV.

Newly introduced Lithops are highlighted here with underlined blue links. For information about all the other taxa, please consult either THE BASICS (by botanical name) or THE INTERNATIONAL CULTIVAR REGISTER AND CHECKLIST FOR THE GENUS LITHOPS N.E.BR. (by cultivar epithet) sections of this website. From there you may be further directed to an appropriate SCRAPBOOKLITHOPS page.

Lithops N.E.Br. bromfieldii L.Bol. 'Dome’. (cultivar)
Lithops bromfieldii 'Dome’.First published by László Szabó in “New Lithops cultivars, Mesemb Study Group Bulletin 41(3): 61. (August) 2026”. Image example: Two photographs of plants accompanying the protologue, taken by László Szabó of Hungary. A cultivar with pronounced red facial lines and a rapidly clustering growth habit.

This is a pattern bred cultivar with an abnormal, rapidly clustering growth habit and strong rubrications. Each head seems to multiply every year, thus soon rendering the plant a large “domed” clump. The shape of the heads is often irregular too, sometimes tapering sharply from the face toward the root. Originating “from the former GDR (East Germany), it was stabilised by László Szabó of Hungary, and published by him in the M.S.G. Bulletin vol. 41, p. 61 (2026). Since the author has not witnessed a flower on this cultivar after 40 years of observation, propagated has to be via vegetative means.

Lithops N.E.Br. lesliei (N.E.Br.) N.E.Br. subsp. lesliei var. rubrobrunnea 'Roasted Chestnut’. (cultivar)
Lithops lesliei subsp. lesliei var. rubrobrunnea 'Roasted Chestnut’. First published by László Szabó in “New Lithops cultivars, Mesemb Study Group Bulletin 41(3): 60-61. (August) 2026”. Image example: Three photographs of plants accompanying the protologue, taken by László Szabó of Hungary. A cultivar with completely open, chestnut-brown windows.

This is a pattern bred cultivar with wide open, chestnut-brown windows. On closer inspection it can be seen those windows contain copious numbers of dusky dots, but zero islands. It was stabilised by László Szabó of Hungary, and published by him in the M.S.G. Bulletin vol. 41, pp. 60-61 (2026). Arising from seed purchased from “the New Mexico Cactus Research” in the “mid-1980s”, the epithet stems from the appearance of the plants, which remind the author of “a scored roasted chestnut’. The flowers are the standard yellow of the species.

Lithops N.E.Br. pseudotruncatella (Berg.) N.E.Br. subsp. groendrayensis (Jacobs.) D.T.Cole 'Winter Forest’. (cultivar)
Lithops pseudotruncatealla subsp. groendrayensis 'Winter Forest’. First published by László Szabó in “New Lithops cultivars, Mesemb Study Group Bulletin 41(3): 60. (August) 2026”. Image example: Two photographs of plants accompanying the protologue, taken by László Szabó of Hungary. A cultivar with a broken reddish-brown network of markings on a finely wrinkled, grey-white face.

This is a pattern bred cultivar derived from L. pseudotruncatella subsp. groendrayensis. Plants are similar to subsp. dendritica ‘Tok’s Rock’, but have many tiny facial wrinkles, a feature somewhat akin to L. vallis-mariae, although sometimes seen in L. pseudotruncatella subsp. groendrayensis too. There is broken network of strong reddish-brown rubrications along with fainter marks and scattered dots. Arising from seed purchased from “the New Mexico Cactus Research” in the “mid-1980s”, it was stabilised by László Szabó of Hungary, and published by him in the M.S.G. Bulletin vol. 41, p. 60 (2026). The author considers the facial pattern akin to “a winter forest covered in snow”, hence the epithet. The flowers are standard yellow of the species.
